Multiple matches have been altered ahead of TNA Genesis.
TNA Wrestling is all set to kick off 2026 with its first PPV offering, Genesis. The fourteenth edition of the event will take place on January 17, 2026, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. Fans can catch all the action live on TNA+.
The Nashville-based promotion has announced multiple matches for the show. Some of them have been changed due to unforeseen circumstances. The event will also feature stars from WWE NXT, as part of their mutual working agreement.
JDC, aka Fandango, as known by WWE fans, will take on a longtime friend and System ally, Eddie Edwards. This will be JDC’s retirement match, a loyal member of the faction, The System. The veteran made the emotional announcement last month that he will be retiring from in-ring competition at the PPV.
TNA World Tag Team Champions, The Hardys (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy), are set to defend the title against The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch), while Elijah and Mustafa Ali will collide in singles competition in Garland, Texas.
TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater was set defend the title in a triple-threat match against Cedric Alexander and Moose. However, on the premiere of Impact on AMC on January 15, it was revealed that Slater could not travel to the U.S. because of visa complications, preventing him from defending his title.
As a result, Joe Hendry, who had been announced for Genesis just over a week earlier, stepped in for the match, which will now be a three-way. Both Alexander and Moose are expected to receive their title opportunities at a later date.
Furthermore, TNA Knockouts World Champion Léi Yǐng Lee was set defend the title against Dani Luna. However, due to visa issues, Luna would be unable to appear at the event. Lee signed an open contract for anyone to challenge her at the PPV, and the challenge was answered by NXT’s Sol Ruca and Zaria, with the latter signing the contract, making the title clash official.
On the other hand, Mike Santana will defend the TNA World title against Frankie Kazarian, and Nic Nemeth will be the special guest referee for the showdown.
Additionally, A. J. Francis and Rich Swann will collide in singles action, while Ryan Nemeth and Mara Sade will lock horns in an intergender match.
