The year 2025 will see the end of the wrestling careers of some of the biggest wrestling stars

The wrestling world has been off to a tremendous start in 2025, with top promotions like WWE and AEW producing remarkable shows that have set the tone for a spectacular year ahead. However, an important aspect of 2025 is the culmination of some of the most illustrious careers in the history of professional wrestling.

For years, some of the most influential and talented wrestling stars have captivated the audience with their in-ring acumen and larger-than-life personalities. However, in 2025, those wrestlers will close the chapter on their careers as in-ring performers. Here are the top four legends who are on the path to retirement in 2025:

4. AJ Styles

AJ Styles is one of the most remarkable in-ring athletes and he garnered major attention for his stints in promotions like TNA and NJPW. In 2016, he debuted in WWE and replicated the same success, becoming one of the top names in the company. Styles returned in the spring of 2024 to kick off his own farewell run in WWE, but those plans were derailed due to injury. However, Styles is expected to return in 2025 and resume his plans of moving ahead with the end of his illustrious wrestling career.

3. Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett has been a part of the professional wrestling industry for almost four decades. Double J has wrestled for multiple promotions, such as WCW, WWE and TNA and is currently a part of AEW, where he will put an end to his in-ring career. Moreover, it was revealed on the January 8 edition of AEW Dynamite that Jarrett has only one year in his last contract that he signed with AEW, following which the Last Outlaw will hang up his boots for good.

2. Goldberg

WCW Icon Goldberg had been clamouring for the perfect end to his amazing in-ring career. Following his appearance at the WWE Bad Blood PLE, it was revealed that Goldberg would retire in 2025. While nothing is confirmed as of now, it is widely expected that his last run will happen in WWE, with his last matches possibly against stars like Gunther.

1. John Cena

Perhaps one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time, John Cena, shocked the world last year when he announced his retirement news to the fans. Cena revealed that 2025 will be his last year as an active in-ring performer, embarking on a farewell tour that will end in December. The Face that Runs the Place kicked off his farewell tour on RAW’s debut on Netflix and seemingly has huge plans for the last leg of his remarkable two-decade-plus career.
