Asian Games 2023: Indian men’s skeet team bag bronze, women finish commendable fourth

Anandjeet Singh Naruka also won a silver in the individual final.
India’s exceptional performance in shooting perseveres at the ongoing Asian Games 2023, as the men’s skeet team secured a commendable bronze medal during the morning session on September 27th. The team, comprising of Angad Vir Singh, Gurjoat Singh, and Anand Jeet Singh, concluded the final round, securing the third position with an impressive score of 355 points. With this remarkable achievement, India grabbed its ninth medal in shooting.

The gold medal in men’s skeet team event went to China with 362 points and Qatar bagged the silver medal with 359 points. On the other hand in the women’s team competition, the Indian trio comprising of Ganemat Sekhon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Darshna Rathore achieved a commendable fourth place finish.
They displayed remarkable skill and determination, but unfortunately could not manage to secure qualification for the individual final. The teams from Kazakhstan, China, and Thailand emerged triumphant in the event.
Earlier Sift Kaur Samra of India secured the gold medal, while Ashi Chouksey clinched the bronze in the individual final of the women’s 50m rifle 3P event at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou. Sift emerged triumphant with an outstanding score of 469.6 points, earning not only the top position but also setting new world record.
Prior to this, the world record was held by Great Britain, while China held the Asian record, and Mongolia held the previous Asian Games record. Sift’s remarkable achievement surpasses all previous milestones, solidifying its place in history.

The Indian shooting trio comprising of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan have further solidified India’s impressive performance in shooting by securing a gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event. With a total score of 1759 points, India displayed exceptional prowess, ultimately securing the top position on the podium.
Ashi Chouksey, Manini Kaushik, and Sift Kaur Samra have also achieved a noteworthy accomplishment for India. They secured a silver medal in the women’s 50 m rifle 3P team event with an impressive score of 1754 points.
