Asian Games 2023: Indian men's Trap team shoot gold, women settle for silver

Three shooters across both divisions have also qualified for the individual finals.

Indian shooters have once again showcased their remarkable skills at the Asian Games 2023, clinching two more medals. In a commendable achievement, the Indian men's and women's shooting trios secured the gold and silver medals respectively in the Trap team event.

The Indian men's team, comprising of Zoravar Singh, Kynan Darius Chenai, and Prithviraj Tondaiman displayed exceptional prowess in the men's Trap team event. With an impressive total of 361 points, they not only clinched the first position but also set a new Asian Games record.

Kynan achieved a flawless score of 25 out of 25 in the final stage, significantly aiding India in securing the first position. Furthermore, both Kynan Chenai and Zoravar Singh Sandhu successfully progressed to the final round in the individual category.

Women's team of Manisha Keer, Rajeshwari Kumari, and Preeti Rajak, secured the second position in Trap team event with a total of 337 points. The gold and bronze medals were claimed by China and Kazakhstan, respectively, with scores of 357 and 336 points.

Moreover, Manisha progressed to the final round in individual category. She was deadlocked with three other participants at a score of 114 but secured her spot for the finals as more than two Chinese shooters had already qualified.

The Indian team was followed by Almudhaf Khaled, Alrashidi Talal and Alfaihan Abdulrahman of Kuwait and Guo Yuhao, QI Ying and Wang Yuhao of China with 359 and 354 points respectively.

India's golfer Aditi Ashok secured a historic silver medal in the women's individual golf competition. She concluded the event by wrapping up the final hole with a par, resulting in an impressive score of 17 under.

With these wins, India’s medal tally in Asian Games has reached a total of 41 with 11 golds, 16 silvers and 14 bronze medals. With more assurances of medals in boxing and badminton, Indian spectators will also keep a close on Kynan Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Manisha Keer who have qualified for the final round in their respective events.

The final of women’s Trap individual event is scheduled 12.30 PM while men’s Trap individual event is going to take place at 1.30 PM.
