Asian Games 2023: Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinches silver in men’s 50m Rifle 3 Position

Swapnil Kusale finished just a spot outside the podium.

India's Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar bagged silver in men’s 50m Rifle 3 Position individual event after finishing with a score of 459.7 points at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. China’s DU Linshu and Tian Jiaming finished clinched the gold and bronze with 460.6 and 448.3 points respectively.

In addition to Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Suresh Kusale had also advanced to the final round. Following the initial 10 shots, Swapnil secured the second position with a score of 103.6 points, falling just behind China's Du Linshu who scored 103.7 points. Even though Swapnil came down to third position after the fifteenth round and grabbed the first place holding composure after twenty fifth shots.

At the conclusion of the prone position, Swapnil maintained his lead with a total of 310.8 points, maintaining a 2.4-point advantage over Du Linshu in second place. Meanwhile, Aishwary moved up to fifth place with a total score of 306.4 points.

Swapnil continued to maintain his position at the top with a resilient score of 361.3 points, even after 35 shots. Meanwhile, Aishwary climbed a spot ahead to the fourth position with a respectable score of 358.1 points.

Despite an initial strong performance that saw him take the lead, Swapnil encountered a significant setback when he shot a score of 7.6. This caused him to drop down to fourth place, ultimately settling for that position with a total of 438.9 points.

Furthermore, Aishwary, along with Swapnil Suresh Kusale and Akhil Sheoran, had already won a gold medal in the Men's team 50m Rifle 3 position event. With Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar’s silver, India’s medal tally has moved to 32 with 8 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze.
