India’s ace shooter Manu Bhaker added another medal to her tally by winning a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2024 in Granada, Spain on Friday.

Bhaker, who had earlier won a gold in the mixed team event with Saurabh Chaudhary, shot a total of 215.1 in the final to finish behind Poland’s Bres Klaudia (236.2) and Mexico’s Ibarra Miranda Andrea Victoria (236.2), who won the gold and silver respectively.

The 20-year-old Bhaker, who had qualified for the final with a score of 579, was in contention for the gold till the 18th shot, but a 9.1 in the 19th shot pushed her to the third position. She held on to the bronze with a 10.1 in the final shot.

Another Indian in the fray, Rhythm Sangwan, who had qualified with a score of 576, could not replicate her performance in the final and finished eighth with a score of 115.9.

India has so far won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the World Cup, which is having junior and senior 10m air gun competitions only. The senior competitions began on Friday.

A 34-member Indian contingent is taking part in the World Cup, which is also a test event for the 2024 Olympic Games.

India will be hoping for more medals on Saturday, when the men’s and women’s 10m air rifle events will take place.
