The country's tally of medals saw a few more additions on a successful day.

The 2022 ISSF World Cup is currently ongoing in the city of Changwon, South Korea. Best of the best shooting athletes from across the globe are participating in the tournament. The competition is extremely difficult where Indian shooters are also aiming to deliver medals for the country. The Indian contingent had a strong performance on Wednesday and continued their sensational performance on Thursday as well.

India is a strong country when it comes to producing shooting athletes. This claim is proving its validity at the 2022 ISSF World Cup where the country is leading the medals tally. At one point, India was leading countries like China, and South Korea among others with eight total medals.

Several key contests took place on Thursday as well. Here is a look at the day’s action at the 2022 ISSF World Cup in Changwon:

Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team

The Indian team comprising of Arjun Babuta, Tushar Mane and Paarth Makhija won gold at the Men’s Air Rifle Team event. In the early hours of the day, they had to compete against heavyweights South Korea in the gold medal match. However, carrying their form from the qualification round, the Indians secured gold with a narrow 17-15 win.

Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team

Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita and Elavenil Valaravian could not replicate the performance of their male countrymen. Facing the South Koreans in the gold medal match, the trio had to taste defeat by a 16-10 score. Having said that, they managed to win the silver medal and should be proud of their performance across the qualifiers and in the final.

Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team

Indian trio of Shiva Narwal, Naveen and Sagar Dangi were representing the country in the Men’s Air Pistol Team event. They did well in the qualifiers and made their way into the final after navigating through two qualifying rounds. However, the final saw them come up against equally good Italians. Unfortunately, the Italian team won the gold medal match by a 17-15 score and the Indians had to settle for a silver medal.

Women’s 10m Air Pistol Team

Similarly, the team of Palak, Rhythm Sangwan and Yuvika Tomar reached the gold medal match in the Women’s Air Pistol Team event. A second chance of the day to secure gold also went to waste for the women’s team. For the second time in the day, the Indian women’s team lost to the South Koreans, this time by a 16-12 score to come away with the silver medal.

Mixed Team Trap

The Indians were disappointing in the qualification round of the MIxed Team Shotgun Trap event. They could not go past the qualification round. Finishing bottom in tenth, Bhowneesh Mendiratta and Neeru could only score 134 points. Finishing second from bottom in ninth place, Prithviraj Tondaiman and Preeti Rajak scored 135 points. The gold in this category went to Australia’s James Willett and Penny Smith, as they beat compatriots, Catherine Skinner and Thomas Grice.
