Pair of Rhythm and Anish grabs Bronze at ISSF World Cup
It was a day full of exciting team events at the prestigious tournament.
For the past few days, the action at the 2022 ISSF World Cup has kept the fans entertained. They have witnessed sensational performances by world-class shooting athletes from across the world. The host city of Changwon in South Korea has done a marvellous job of conducting the tournament without any niggles or hassles.
Among the many fabulous athletes on display, the Indian contingent has impressed the most. The country is leading the medals tally, ahead of several nations that are strong in this particular sport. India collected a fourth gold medal yesterday and there was hope to add more to the total tally from Tuesday’s lineup of events.
Here is a look at the day’s action from the ongoing 2022 ISSF World Cup in the city of Changwon, South Korea:
50M Rifle 3 Positions Mixed Team
India had two teams participating in the 50M Rifle 3 Positions Mixed Team event. One team included Anjum Moudgil with Sanjeev Rajput and the other team comprised Ashi Chouksey and Aishwary Singh Tomar. Unfortunately for both pairs, they could not make their way to the medal rounds.
They qualified for the second round of qualifiers but failed to finish in the top four positions to advance into the medal rounds. They finished fifth and sixth respectively, missing out on medal contention narrowly. Gold went to the Czech Republic while South Korea and Germany won the silver and bronze.
25M Rapid Fire Pistol Mixed Team
Simranpreet Kaur Brar/Vijayveer Sidhu and Rhythm Sangwan/Anish were the two teams representing India in the 25M Rapid Fire Pistol Mixed Team event. Both teams advanced into the second round of qualifiers with ease after a solid performance. Out of the two teams, only Rhythm Sangwan and Anish made it to the bronze medal round after finishing third in the second round of qualification.
The pair successfully won bronze for India by beating the team from the Czech Republic. They won the contest by 16-12 to secure an impressive bronze.
