It was a day of more celebration for the fans cheering for the Indian athletes.

The 2022 ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea is heading towards its business end. For the past few days, some of the finest shooting athletes across the world took part in the competition with the aim to win medals for their respective countries. India is one of the strongest countries in the prestigious tournament, with several Olympians and former World Cup medal winners in the lineup.

On Monday, there were a few notable individuals who were in action. Whether it was a team event or an individual event across the rifle/pistol/shotgun category, the athletes gave their all. Indians collected another gold and extended their lead at the top of the medals tally.

Here is a look at the results from another day of sensational action at the 2022 ISSF World Cup in the city of Changwon:

50M Rifle 3 Positions Team Women

The Indian team comprising bronze medallist Anjum Moudgil, Ashi Chouksey and Sift Kaur Samra performed well in the 50M Rifle 3 Positions Team event in the Women’s category. They cruised past two rounds of qualifications to win the bronze for the country. They did so by finishing fourth and third in the first and second rounds of qualifiers. It was a head-to-head clash with Austrians that saw the Indian team win bronze after a 16-6 win. The gold medal went to the German team that handed a 17-11 defeat to the South Korean team.

25M Rapid Fire Pistol Men

India’s Vijayveer Sidhu was close to winning a medal for the country in the 25M Rapid Fire Pistol Men event. The Indian ace in pistol finished sixth in qualification after an impressive performance. However, he could only manage third place in the Ranking Round with only the top two positions slated to qualify for the medal round. Gold went to Dai Yoshioka of Japan, while Jean Quiquampoix of France and Jae-kyoon Lee of South Korea had to settle for silver and bronze. 

Skeet Men

Indian veteran shooter Mairaj Ahmed Khan was heavily impressive in the Skeet Men event. He wins his first-ever ISSF World Cup individual gold. The veteran finished eighth in qualification to head into the Ranking Match for the medal contention. The former ISSF World Cup silver medallist and an Olympian blew apart the competition. He finished first out of four competitors in the Ranking Match and won gold by scoring 37 points out of 40 in the medal round.

Skeet Women

Muffaddal Zahra Deesawala was disappointing in the Women’s Skeet event as she finished 23rd after the completion of the qualification round. The gold medal in this particular category went to Lucie Anastassiou of France. Amber Hill of the United Kingdom and Chiara Di Marziantonio of Italy had to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
