The host nation finished the tournament on a high.
The final day of the ISSF World Cup 2021 proved to be very fruitful for India as the the host nation won two golds and one silver to finish off an amazing tournament. The Women’s and Men’s Trap Teams secured gold medals in their respective categories while the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Team had to settle for the silver at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi.
The Indian trio of Gurpeet Singh, Adarsh Singh and Vijayveer Sidhu had a really bad day as they were crushed 2-10 by the team USA consisting of Henry Leverett, Keith Sanderson and Jack Leverett.
The Indian shooters looked very uncomfortable from the start, failing to capitalize on any lapses by the Americans. Earlier in the day, they had qualified for the final with the second position in the qualifications second round behind the Team USA with a total score of 552.
In women’s Trap Team event, it was a more routine day for the Indian shooters as Shreyashi Singh, Rajeshwari Kumari and Manisha Keer staved off the challenege from Kazhakstan with ease. The were in control from the start of the final and won the gold medal by a comfortable 6-0 margin. On the other hand, the men's team had to work a bit harder against their Slovak opposition.
Kynan Chenai, Lakshay and Prithviraj found themselves trailing 0-2 and 2-4 at two different points before winning 4 straight points to make it 15 gold medals for India in the World Cup. Slovakia had to settle for silver while Kazakhstan added to the silver medal, won by their Women’s Trap Team, with a bronze medal in the Men’s Trap Team after beating Qatar.
