The Indian duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan lost 44-43 against China at Paris Olympics 2024.
Heartbreak has been the story of India’s campaign at Paris Olympics 2024, as Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan lost the bronze medal match in the mixed skeet team event by one point.
Both are young guns coming through the ranks of Khelo India and TOPS Scheme, but they have the heart of bigger athletes to compete at this level. It might not be enough to be on the podium in Paris.
Having made it to the bronze medal match through a shoot-off in qualification, the pair of Anant and Maheswari showed immense character against the Chinese pair of Yiting Jiang and Jianlin Lyu.
The latter was brilliant, as he had perfect 24/24 shots in the finals. He was the lynchpin of the game, as he shot with authority to take home the bronze.
But it wasn’t without a fight from the Indian duo, who were equally good. Maheswari started shooting her first seven shots brilliantly, missing only the eighth shot. While Anant was slow to get off the blocks as he missed one shot in each of the first four shots.
The Chinese seemed to get away with the lead, but Jiang made a blunder, missing three consecutive shots to make it 13-13 at the end of two series.

In the next series, it was no different, with both teams shooting down seven shots each with scores of 20 each. The deadlock was broken when Maheshwari sniffed her fourth series by missing a shot to give China a 28-27 lead.
The young lads weren’t giving up; they gave themselves a chance by shooting the next 16. The Chinese needed to hit all their shots to get the bronze, and they did to leave India at fourth place, yet again.
