Over the last decade, shooting has become one of India’s strongest sports. At the 2022 Asian Games, which took place in Hangzhou, China, the Indian contingent secured seven gold, nine silver, and six gold medals across all shooting events.
Moreover, in 2008, shooting legend Abhinav Bindra was the first Indian to win an individual Olympic gold medal at the sporting megafestival. He reached the peak at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 10-metre air rifle event. Hence, the performance of Indian shooters will play a major role in the subcontinent’s overall performance at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
