India to send two men’s singles shuttlers in same edition of Olympics after Athens 2004.

With the 2024 Paris Olympics fast approaching, athletes from all disciplines, including badminton, are vying for a place at this top-level sporting event, and with the Badminton Qualification window prime to close at April 28. Last leg of Badminton and ranking becomes even more important.

The competition is quite tight, and players are fighting for their qualifications. The qualification list is planned to be announced on April 30.

The qualification process depends on the “Race to Paris Olympics 2024 Rankings,” which takes into account the results of the first 10 events. Those ranked within the top 16 of this list automatically secure a spot. If more than two athletes from the same National Olympic Committee (NOC) are in the top 16, the NOC decides which athletes they find suitable to send.

A similar protocol is used in the doubles competition, with a maximum of two doubles pairs allowed if they rank within the top eight of the ‘Race to Paris rankings list.’

Note: PV Sindhu (13), HS Prannoy (9), Lakshya Sen (12), and the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty (2) are inside the top 16 of the “Race to Paris Rankings List” and have mathematically booked their place for Paris.
