Kushale will play finals on Thursday, 1st August.
Two Indian shooters, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Swapnil Kushale, took part in the 50m rifle 3 position men’s event at the Olympics. This event is known to be one of the toughest in shooting competitions.
Both shooters were expected to do well, as they had previously set a world record in the team event at last year’s Asian Games, along with their teammate Akhil Sheoran.
The competition has three parts: kneeling, prone (lying down) and standing. Here’s how our Indian shooters performed:
Kneeling Position
Swapnil started strong, scoring 99 out of 100 in the first round. Aishwary scored 98. In the second round, both scored 99. After this, Swapnil was in fth place, while Aishwary was 11th.

Prone Position
Aishwary, who won four medals at the Asian Games, did really well here. He got a perfect 100 in the first round and 99 in the second. This moved him up to sixth place. Swapnil scored 98 and 99, but dropped to 10th place. This shows how close the competition is at the Olympics.
Standing Position
This is the hardest part. Swapnil started with a 9, then hit eight 10s in a row. He had some trouble in the middle with three 9s, but finished strong with all 10s. This helped him get into the finals.
Aishwary had a tough time in this position. He only scored 95 in the first round. In his last round, he needed a perfect 100 to qualify but got 98. This left him in 11th place overall, just missing the finals.
Final Results
Swapnil Kushale, who is 29-years-old, made it to the finals. He will compete against seven other shooters on Thursday for a medal. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who is 23-years-old, finished 11th and didn’t make it to the final
This event shows how tough Olympic shooting is. Even small mistakes can make a big difference in where a shooter ends up. The 50m rifle 3 position event needs shooters to be very accurate in all three positions.
