Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu sets new National Record in Senior National Aquatic Championship 2025

at 15-year-old, Dhinidhi Desinghu is India’s youngest-ever Olympian.
India’s youngest Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu broke the National Record in women’s 200m freestyle event in the 78th edition of Senior National Aquatic Championship 2025 on Monday. The 15-year-old swimmer clocked a time of 2:02.97 seconds to better the previous NR that she herself held at 2:04.24 seconds, which she set in Hyderabad on July 5, 2023.
En route to breaking the national record, Dhinidhi also shattered the meet record too. Delhi’s Bhavya Sachdeva clinched the silver medal with a time of 2:07.45 seconds, while Maharashtra’s Aditi Satish Hegde bagged the bronze medal, clocking a time of 2:07.55 seconds.

Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Shoan Ganguly shattered the National Record in men’s 200m medley final on Day 2 of the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championship 2025 in Bhubaneswar. The Indian swimmer finished the race in 2:04.34 seconds, bettering the previous NR of 2:05.64 seconds set by Siva Sridhar on 6th July 2022.
Services Sports Control Board’s Vinayak Vijay Shankar won the silver medal with a timing of 2:05.34 seconds, while the previous National Record holder, Siva Sridhar, finished third with a timing of 2:05.75 seconds. The swimmer representing Karnataka took home the bronze medal.

Karnataka currently leads the medal tally with 15 medals, including three silver, six gold, and as many bronze. Tamil Nadu (8 medals), RSPB (7 medals), Delhi (3 medals), and Maharashtra (7 medals) are placed between second and fifth in the standings.
