This was India’s first-ever medal in diving at the Asian Aquatics Championships.

Indiver Sairem and Wilson Sing Ningthoujam clinched a historic bronze medal for India in the men’s synchronized 10m platform event at the ongoing Asian Aquatics Championships 2025 on Monday, September 29.

The duo won India’s first-ever medal in diving with a total score of 300.66, marking a new beginning for the sport.

China’s Cui/Xu clinched the gold with a total score of 381.75, while Malaysia’s Lises/Harold bagged silver with 329.73 points.

Speaking of the Indian pair’s performance, they began with 39.60 points in the 201B dive, which refers to a back-ward takeoff. They bagged 39.60 points in 5231D and 54.60 points in 405B, which is a diving move where the diver performs an inward somersault with two and a half twists.

Sairem and Wilsom added 52.80 points in 407C dive, an Inward 3 1/2 somersaults Tuck dive. They earned 60.30 points and 53.76 points in 107B (a forward dive with 3 1/2 somersaults in a pike position) and 305C, respectively.

The 11th edition of the Asian Aquatics Championships commenced on September 28 and will conclude on October 11. The newly-built Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad is hosting the swimming, diving, artistic swimming, and water polo competitions.

Kushagra Rawat wins bronze at Asian Aquatics Championships 2025

Indian swimmer Kushagra Rawat bagged the bronze medal in men’s 1500m freestyle final at the Asian Aquatics Championships 2025 on Monday. He clocked a timing of 15:30.88 seconds to finish third in the race, bagging India’s fifth medal in the competition.

Meanwhile, Srihari Nataraj won three medals on Day 1 of the 11th Asian Aquatics Championships on Sunday, September 28. He opened India’s account with silver medals in men’s 200m freestyle and men’s 50m backstroke events.

India also won the bronze medal in the 4x100m medley relay final with a time of 3:40.87 seconds. The team consisted of Srihari Natraj, Rishabh Anupam Das, Likith SP and Rohit Benediction.

In the women’s division, Dhinidhi Desinghu missed out on a medal but set a new national record in the women’s 200 freestyle event.
