Veda Sarfare began her formal swimming training at just nine months old.

At the age of just 1 year, 9 months & 10 days, Veda Sarfare has etched her name into the India Book of Records. She has now become the youngest from the country to swim 100m.

According to mail received by the India Book of Records on November 25, Veda completed 100m (four laps) at the municipal swimming pool in Ratnagiri in only 10 minutes and 8 seconds.

The official page of Veda Sarfare on Instagram has been active with her swimming clips and also gave a sneak peek of the mail. The excerpt from the mail read:

“She swam 100 metres (4 laps) across the length of a swimming pool measuring 25 metres * 22 metres in 10 minutes and 8 seconds at the municipal swimming pool.”

Reports suggest that Veda drew inspiration from her brother’s swimming lessons in the pool. Her formal training started when she was just nine months old under coaches Mahesh Milke and his wife Gauri. Over the next 11 months, the duo built Veda’s buoyancy, breath control and gradual endurance.

Milke expressed his happiness at 21-month-old Veda registering a historic record under her name. He said:

“With hard work and consistent training, this 21-month-old has imprinted her mark as the ‘Youngest Swimmer’ national.”

The young swimmer battled issues like shifts between warm and cold water, disturbance from passing ships, fish, tidal currents and limited visibility due to darkness.

Aanvi has been training rigorously under coaches Vilas Mane and Ravi Navale at Yash Gymkhana in Dombivli. As she completed her swim, her parents, coaches, relatives, supporters, and gymkhana staff welcomed her with flowers and were filled with pride.
