WTT Contender Lima 2023: Full schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details
Manika Batra is the lone Indian to take part in the singles category
WTT Contender Lima 2023 is all set to start from 31 July till 6 August and it is the first Contender event after the WTT Star Contender in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is one of the two only Contender events scheduled in South America, the other being WTT Contender Rio de Janeiro starting just after it concludes. The competition comprises five events: Men’s singles, Women’s singles, Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles, and Mixed doubles.
Most of the Indian players are giving this event a miss because of their participation in the UTT Season 4 event where Goa Challengers won the title after defeating the Chennai Lions by 8-7 in the finals. With the Asian games inching closer, this event would be very important for all the Asian players who are giving it a chance.
Manika Batra, the golden girl of India will be seen in the action alongside her partner Sathiyan Gnanasekaran who has been trying to find form since the start of 2023. Sathiyan who could have easily secured his place in the qualifying draw shockingly prioritized doubles over singles this time and is giving his main discipline a miss this week in Lima, Peru. However, Manika will be seen in action in both the singles and doubles section.
