Indian table tennis player Ayhika Mukherjee has reacted to the BJP’s milestone win in West Bengal, stating that Bengal is the land of Goddess Kali, hailed as the destroyer of evil. Winning more than 200 seats, the BJP recorded a historic triumph in West Bengal, forming the state government for the first time since independence.
After the BJP’s triumph in the state, posts on social media, both in favour and against the election results, began circulating. One post that read, “Bengal is the land of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and many other stalwarts. Is Bengal finally seeing a saffron wave?”
Sharing a screenshot of the post on her Instagram story, Ayhika wrote, “Bengal – land of Maa Kali. Destroyer of evil. Fighters, always built on power, not fear.”

Ayhika was last in action at the qualification round of the Singapore Smash in February, where she defeated Ivana Malobabic in the first round but lost to Christina Kallberg in the subsequent round. Before playing in Singapore, she participated in the WTT Star Contender Chennai.
Last year, she also talked about her love for her hometown and festivals. During an interview with The Telegraph, she claimed that due to her career and back-to-back tournaments, she often misses Durga Puja, a festival she loves to celebrate with her family. Much like what she said, Ayhika was in China last year.

Most years, I was travelling on Saptami or Ashtami, sometimes returning on those very days, and often playing matches through the festival. Even this year, I’ll be in China during Puja. But I’ve made peace with that because it’s part of my journey.”
In the same interview, she also talked about her love for dressing up for special festivals and getting some time to eat indulgent food despite being an athlete with a strict diet.
