India are through to the knockouts!
The Indian men’s table tennis team secured a 3-0 win against Pakistan in their final Group F fixture of the Asian Games 2026 at the Sky Hall Toyota in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Monday, September 21.
Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Payas Jain secured straight-game wins over their Pakistani counterparts in the singles fixtures, securing a 3-0 win before the contest went into the doubles matches.
Desai gave India an early advantage during the first clash against Muhammad Khan, winning 11-4, 11-3, 11-5.
Sathiyan, who was a part of the bronze-winning India team at the 2018 Asian Games alongside Desai, then secured a straight-game 11-1, 11-8, 11-9 win against Abbas Khan.
21-year-old Jain then completed the one-sided victory for India with an 11-2, 11-5, 11-7 win over Muhammad Khan.

The Indian men’s table tennis team began their campaign with a solid 3-0 win over Indonesia. However, they suffered a damaging 3-0 loss to Iran in their next outing, denting their chances of reaching the knockout stages.
The win against Pakistan ensured that India progressed to the Round of 16. India are currently top of Group F with five points from three matches. Iran are second with three points, Indonesia are third with three points, while Pakistan remain bottom with three points.
