The Indian men’s and women’s table tennis teams have secured places in the upcoming ITTF World Table Tennis Championships 2026 to be held in London. India remained undefeated at the South Asia Regional Championships held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on July 30 and 31.

India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were the five teams competing in the men’s and women’s competitions at the 2025 South Asia Regional Championships. The Indian teams finished first in both categories with eight points each, having won all four encounters.

The Indian men’s team consisted of Anirban Ghosh, Divyansh Srivastava, Abhinandh Pradhivadhi, Ronit Bhanja, and Akash Pal. They began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Bangladesh, and defeated Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives in their remaining group stage matches to top the table.

Nepal finished second in the men’s event standings with seven points, including three wins and a loss, while the Maldives secured third place with six points. Sri Lanka (5 points) and Bangladesh (4 points) were the last two teams in the standings.

Meanwhile, the women’s team included Krittwika Sinha, Selenadeepthi Selvakumar, Taneesha Kotecha, Sayali Wani, and Syndrela Das. The Indian team defeated the remaining four participating nations 3-0 in all four matches.

In the women’s category, Sri Lanka won three matches and lost one, finishing second with seven points. Nepal bagged the third spot with six points, courtesy of two wins and as many losses. With five points, the Maldives finished fourth, while Bangladesh finished at the bottom of the standings, losing all four matches in the tournament.

16 teams from Asia will compete in the 2026 edition of the World Table Tennis Championships. Four teams, one each from Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and West Asia regions, will secure a direct qualification to the event.

The remaining 12 teams will be decided through the Asian Table Tennis Championships. The event is scheduled to take place in early 2026.
