The Indian women’s table tennis team of Sreeja Akula, Manika Batra, and Archana Kamath is ready to face Romania at the Paris Olympics 2024.
The Indian women’s table tennis team will face Romania in the round of 16 of the Women’s Team event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The likes of Sreeja Akula, Manika Batra, and Archana Kamath will represent the nation at the prestigious multi-sport event.
On the other side, the Romanian table tennis team had Adina Diaconu, Bernadette Szőcs, and Elizabeta Samara. Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra also reached the round of 16 of the women’s singles event. Since the inclusion of the sport at the Olympic Games, it was the first time that two Indians managed to reach the quarterfinals.
However, Akula lost to China’s Sun Yingsha in the pre-quarterfinals. Yingsha is currently the women’s World No. 1. Meanwhile, Manika Batra lost to former World No. 5 Miu Hirano of Japan 1-4 in the aforementioned round. If India manages to defeat the Romanian women’s table tennis team, they will face either the United States or Germany in the quarter-finals.
