Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Novak Djokovic: Head-to-head record

Nine-time Australian Open champion and fourth-seeded, Novak Djokovic, beat third-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2023 Australian Open men's singles final on January 29 (January). Djokovic started his 2023 season on a positive note first winning the ATP 250 Adelaide International I title, a precursor tournament to the Australian Open. Tsitsipas went down in straight sets, losing 3-6, 6-7(4-7), 6-7(5-7) to hand Djokovic a record 10th Australian Open title.

Former World No. 1, Djokovic, defeated Roberto Carballes Baena, Enzo Couacaud, Grigor Dimitrov, Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev, and Tommy Paul en route to the final. Overall, the Serbian has lost only one set in the second round to French international Couacaud. A win in the final extended his unbeaten run on Australian soil (not lost a match since 2019).

Stefanos Tsitsipas, on the other hand, had a dream run in both the singles and doubles (partnering with his brother Petros Tsitsipas and reaching the second round). The Greece international did not take part in any precursor tournament and started the season playing at the Australian Open. 

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a tough fourth-round encounter against the Italian Jannik Sinner winning the match in five sets (6-4,6-4,3-6,4-6,6-3). The number three seed won the first two sets comfortably but couldn't hold the momentum losing the next two sets. This was the only match where Stefanos was pushed to a five-setter.

Stefanos Tsitsipas won the first battle against Novak Djokovic way back in 2018 at the ATP Masters 1000 Canada. Djokovic has got better of the number three seed since. The Serbian has won 10 consecutive matches against Tsitsipas since the 2019 ATP Masters 1000 Paris. Djokovic also beat Stephanos Tsitsipas twice at the Roland Garros in 2020 and 2021, before beating him again at the 2023 Australian Open.
