The tournament will begin on January 16.

The first Grand Slam of the season, the Australian Open 2023, is upon us starting Monday, January 16. The world’s top players are set to participate with Novak Djokovic making his comeback after not playing in the previous edition. Djokovic will be looking to win a record 10th Australian Open title, while on the other hand, Rafael Nadal will eye his 23rd grand slam title. Ashleigh Barty, women's singles champion from the previous season, will not be defending her title after having retired at age of 26 in 2022.

With Carlos Alcaraz, the world No.1 in men's singles injured, the world number 2 Rafael Nadal will play as the top seed as he attempts to defend his title. Nadal, the all-time record holder of 22 Grand Slams, is the defending champion. But Novak Djokovic, who was deported from Australia last year because of his unvaccinated status, has won the Australian Open a record nine times. He just needs one more Grand Slam title to match Nadal's feat.

In the women's singles section, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek - 2022 WTA Player of the Year - will want to continue the momentum and add to her French Open and US Open titles from last year. Ons Jabeur, the World No. 2 is the second seed.
