The WTA Charleston Open 2023 will be the 50th edition of the tennis tournament. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to run from April 1st to April 9th, 2023, with qualifying already starting on April 1st. The main draw action will commence on April 3rd, with a few first-round matches. Held in Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina, the event is played on outdoor clay courts and is part of the WTA 500 series at the Family Circle Tennis Centre complex.

Indian players have had a limited presence at the WTA Charleston Open, with just a handful of players making it to the main draw over the years. Sania Mirza, the most successful Indian woman tennis player, reached the quarterfinals of the doubles event in 2007 and the second round in singles in 2008. Another Indian player, Ankita Raina, made it to the main draw in 2021 but was defeated in the first round.

The Charleston Open 2023 tournament is played on outdoor clay courts, and the event is part of the WTA 500 series. The winner of the series will walk away with $780,637 and 500 ranking points. American Jessica Pegula is the top seed, who is joined by last year’s finalist Ons Jabeur and defending champion Belinda Bencic.
