AITA announce India tennis squad for Asian Games 2022
Rohan Bopanna and Ankita Raina will spearhead the Indian squad.
The All-India Tennis Association has announced the squad for Asian Games 2022 set to be held in Hangzhou China on Tuesday (June 20th). A total of 12 Indian (men's six and women's six) will be representing the Indian contingent at the prestigious continental meet. Sumit Nagal and Ankita Raina, India's top ranked singles player will be eyeing to clinch the gold medal (automatic qualification to Paris Olympic Games 2024).
Ankita Raina won the bronze medal in the previous edition and will look to go a step forward this time. Hosts China, Korea, and Japan will be the strong contenders at the Asian Games.

Men's Team
Sumit Nagal, Sasikumar Mukund, Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri, Rohan Bopanna, and Saketh Myneni
Captain - Rohit Rajpal
Women's Team
Ankita Raina, Karman Kaur Thandi, Rutuja Bhosale, Sahaja Yamalapalli, Vaidehi Chaudhari, and Prarthna Thombare.

Sasikumar Mukund, 25, will be making his maiden appearance at the Asian Games while former ATP top 100 singles player Prajnesh Gunneswaran misses out. Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan won the gold medal in the previous edition, but Divij has been left out of the squad for this one. Rohan Bopanna might partner Ramkumar Ramanathan (the pair won two ATP 250 title last year) as they have been successful in their limited time as a pair.
Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi will be spearheading the women's contingent with the former inching closer to the top 200 in WTA women's rankings. Doubles specialist Prarthna Thombare makes it to the squad and will most likely partner Ankita in the doubles category. Youngsters Sahaja Yamalapalli and Vaidehi Chaudheri will be making their debut at the Asiad after having participated in the Billie Jean Cup earlier this year.
