Caroline Wozniacki, former world no. 1, announces tennis comeback

She will mark her comeback at the Canadian Open in August.
Former world number one women's tennis player from Denmark, Caroline Wozniacki is set to make her comeback in the sport. A few years back in 2019, she made a shocking announcement of retiring from professional tennis but has changed her mind and is all set to make return.
Wozniacki through her social handle said, "Over these past three years away from the game I got to make up for lost time with my family, I became a mother and now have two beautiful children I am so grateful for. But I still have goals I want to accomplish. I want to show my kids that you can pursue your dreams no matter your age or role. We decided as a family it’s time. I’m coming back to play, and I can’t wait!".
On 6 December 2019, Wozniacki — then aged 29 — announced that she would retire from professional tennis after the 2020 Australian Open in January. The one-time grand slam champion was battling with injuries throughout the 2019 season could be one of the reasons for exit along with spending quality family time with her husband David Lee, who is a former NBA basketball player.
Wozniacki enjoyed friendly rivalvies with famous sporting personalities including 23-time grand slam champion Serena Williams. Both Wozniacki and Serena partnered to play in the women's doubles for the first time at Auckland Open 2020. They ultimately lost to Asia Muhammad and Taylor Townsend in the final after a good run throughout the tournament with Wozniacki reaching the semis in the singles category.
The two-time US Open finalist lost in the third round to Tunisia's Ons Jabeur who recently became the first Arab to reach the quarter-finals stage at the Rolland Garros 2023.
