Yuki Bhambri wins maiden ATP title in Mallorca Open

With this trophy win, his will also achieve his career-best rankings of 58.

Yuki Bhambri clinched his maiden ATP title after winning the men's doubles trophy at the ATP 250 Mallorca Open with South African partner Lloyd Harris. The Indo-South African pair defeated Dutch-Austrian duo of Robin Hasse/Philipp Oswald in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to win the tennis title in Spain.

With the title, Yuki also became the first Indian to win the Mallorca Open. The pair of Bhambri/Harris won the tournament without dropping a set. En route to the title, the duo also defeated top seed Edouard Roger/Santiago Gonzalez in the semis. The France-Mexico pair had knocked Yuki Bhambri/Saketh Myneni in out of the French Open earlier this year.

"It's incredible to win the tournament on grass. Winning without dropping even one set on grass is unheard of in doubles. It obviously helps playing with a partner who was performing exceptionally well in singles," Bhambri was quoted as saying by PTI after the win.

Yuki Bhambri, 30, will also now move to a career-best 58 in the ATP rankings. He is currently ranked 75th, days short of his 31st birthday. His regular partner in doubles Saketh Myneni had taken a break to prepare for the forthcoming Wimbledon Championships and other tournaments.

The pair, who switched their focus mainly to doubles at the start of last year, have been in form since pairing up together and have already won eight Challenger titles together, including two this season already - Thailand and Girona.
