The Indo-Australian pair has now recorded 40 wins together.

The Indo-Australian pairing of Rohan Bopanna and Mattew Ebden sailed through to the semifinals of ATP Finals 2023 after defeating second seed Wesley Koolhof and Neil Skupski in straight sets (6-4, 7-6). The third seeds, by the virtue of this win, have now recorded 40 wins together this season with Bopanna three matches away from registering 500 ATP Tour wins.

This win also makes the Indian the oldest to qualify for the semifinals in the history of ATP Finals. In the last group stage encounter, both pairs started by winning their respective service games.

At 3-3, Bopanna and Ebden broke Skupski's serve and scored all the points on offer. This helped the third seeds to take the opening set 6-4.

In the following set, none of the pairs broke their service games and the match went into the tie-breaker. Until now, Bopanna had won 24 out of the 24 service points and kept a 100 percent record. A few minutes later, the Indian lost two successive points in service games and trailed 1-4.

Koolhof and Skupski had a good advantage of sealing the set, but the former failed to hold on to his service enabling the opponents to move ahead. From 1-4, the Indo-Australian pair scored three consecutive points and went onto win the match in straight sets.

The Dutch-Britain duo had earlier lost to defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury and a loss here meant their exit from the competition.

Bopanna and Ebden will now face Marcel Grannolers-Horacio Zebollas on Saturday (November 18th) for a place in the final.
