Serbia are scheduled to take on Italy for a place in the final.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic, dignifiedly responded to the fans present at the tennis court, who tried to provoke him during his quarter-final match and post match interview of the Davis Cup Finals 2023 against Great Britain.

During the match between Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie of Great Britain, several fans directed comments towards Djokovic. In response, after winning a point in the second set, Djokovic cupped his hand to his ear, in a gesture to listen again to what they were saying.

Even after the match got over, during the post match interview, some fans kept on bullying Djokovic, who in return turned towards them and said “learn how to respect players, learn how to respect people, you shut up, you be quiet.”

In the post-match press conference, Djokovic once again addressed the incident and provided a response when questioned by journalists regarding the matter. He said, “The entire match pretty much, there was disrespect but it’s something I have to be prepared for in the Davis Cup.”

“I was trying to talk and they purposely started to play the drums, to not let me talk. They were trying to annoy me the entire match, so we had a little bit of a chat in the end”, he added.

Apart from the incident, Novak Djokovic led the Serbian team to the semifinals of the Davis Cup. In the quarter-final round, Serbia competed against the Great Britain. In the first match, Miomir Kecmanovic triumphed over Jack Draper with a score of 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (8-6). The following match featured the 24-time grand slam winner facing Cameron Norrie, whom he comfortably defeated with a score-line of 6-4 6-4.

In the semifinals, 2010 champions Serbia will go head-to-head against Italy on Saturday (November 25th). The Italian squad emerged victorious in their quarter-final match against the Netherlands, securing their position in the semifinals.
