Bopanna/Ebden survived a scare in the first round.

The duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden had a successful 2023 season, clinching the titles at the Indian Wells Masters and the Doha ATP 250. They also made it to the finals and semifinals at various other tournaments, such as ATP Masters 1000 Madrid (Finals), Wimbledon (semifinals), US Open (Finals), ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai (Finals), ATP Masters 1000 Paris (Finals), and Nitto ATP Finals (Semifinals).

John Millman/Edward Winter are new kids on the blocks, they have been very good off-late and are coming of a win over Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner and New Zealand’s Marcus Daniell.

Rohan Bopanna-Matt Ebden vs John Millman-Edward Winter Preview

After an impressive 2023 campaign that saw them win Indian Wells and Doha, and reach the finals of four Masters 1000 tournaments and the US Open, Rohan Bopanna and Ebden faced a tough challenge from the home crowd favourites Marc Polmans and James Duckworth in a four-set thriller. The Indian-Australian duo prevailed 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 in the end.

The Aussie wildcards, who had a huge gap in age and experience, worked together superbly to fend off two match points and win 6-7(3) 6-2 7-6(12) over Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner and New Zealand’s Marcus Daniell

Where and how to watch live streaming and TV broadcast of Rohan Bopanna-Matt Ebden vs John Millman-Edward Winter, Australian Open 2024, first round match in India?

The second-round doubles match between John Millman/Edward Winter is scheduled for January 19 (Wednesday) and the broadcast rights have been awarded to Sony Network in India. For Television viewers, the options are the Sony Ten channels, while SonyLiv is available for those preferring to stream the Australian Open 2024 matches.

Prediction

Bopanna and Ebden, being the more experienced pair, should have no trouble getting past John Millman and Edward Winter. The Indo-Australian pair are in their second season as a doubles team and have a good understanding on court.

Their debut season in 2023 was a memorable one, in which the pair finished second on the ATP Table. Bopanna was also the oldest finalist to play at the US Open, aged 43, when he and Ebden reached the final but lost to Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.

Edward Winter and John Millman are less likely to threaten the No 2 seed in this match in spite of Bopanna and Ebden struggling a bit in the first round.

Result: Bopanna-Ebden to win in straight sets
