The Bengaluru Open 2024, a prestigious ATP Challenger Tour event, kicks off on Monday at the KSLTA hard courts.

Sumit Nagal, who reached the second round of the Australian Open in January, is the second seed and India’s best hope at the tournament. The 2017 Bengaluru Open winner, who is ranked 98th in the world, will face France’s Geoffrey Blancaneaux, ranked 235th, in his first match.

The top seed is Italy’s Luca Nardi, who is currently ranked 108th, ten points behind Nagal in the rankings. He will play against a qualifier in his opener. Canada’s Vasek Pospisil, a former world No. 25 and a 2014 Wimbledon doubles champion, has received a wild card entry in singles.

Two other Indians, Ramkumar Ramanathan and SD Prajwal Dev, have also got wild card entries for the singles main draw. They are part of the nine Indian players who will compete in the doubles draw as well.

Ramkumar has teamed up with his fellow countryman Saketh Myneni, who has a powerful serve. They are the defending champions of the Bengaluru Open doubles title, which they won in 2022.

N Sriram Balaji has joined forces with Germany’s Andre Begemann for the Bengaluru Open 2024, which is the seventh edition of the event. They are the third seeds in the 16-team draw and will take on the German pair of Mark Wallner and Jakob Schnaitter.

The top seeds in doubles are France’s Dan Added and the Republic of Korea’s Yun Seong Chung. Chung was the Bengaluru Open doubles champion last year with his partner Yu Hsiou Hsu. The second seeds are Australia’s Matthew Romios and Poland’s Piotr Matuszewski.
