India will play first Davis cup match on Pakistan soil after 1964

The historic India-Pakistan Davis Cup 2024 tennis clash will be held on February 3 and 4 at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

India qualified for the World Group 1 play-offs after defeating Morocco 4-1 in the World Group II play-off in Lucknow last September. They will advance to the World Group I in September this year if they beat Pakistan.

This is the first time the Indian Davis Cup team is visiting Pakistan since 1964. The team will miss the veteran Rohan Bopanna, who retired from Davis Cup tennis last year.

Sumit Nagal, the top-ranked Indian singles player at world No. 121, has also opted out of the tie due to personal reasons.

Ramkumar Ramanathan, ranked 461st in the world, will lead the Indian singles challenge on Saturday. Sriram Balaji will play the second singles match for India. The doubles team of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni will face the Pakistani pair. Pakistan’s best-ranked singles player is Muzammil Murtaza
