India will face Sweden in another enterprising contest
The Davis Cup 2024 Finals will take place in September, with 16 teams competing in four groups of four. The winners of each group will advance to the semifinals, and the final will be held on 29 September.
The Davis Cup is an annual international lawn tennis tournament for men’s teams. It started in 1900 as a challenge between the U.S. and Britain. It is now overseen by the International Lawn Tennis Federation and has teams from different zones.
The ITF headquarters in London hosted the draws for the 2024 Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II ties on Thursday, setting up 12 matches for each group that will be played in September.
The teams that emerge victorious in the World Group I matches in September will secure their spots in the 2025 Davis Cup Qualifiers, where they will have a chance to make it to the Davis Cup Finals. The teams that lose will play in the World Group II matches next year.
The World Group I draw features some exciting match-ups, such as Serbia vs Greece, which could see a showdown between world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and world No. 10 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Other notable ties include Kazakhstan vs Denmark, Poland vs Korea, Republic, Switzerland vs Peru, Norway vs Portugal, and Japan vs Colombia.
