Sinner’s milestone came following his win in Rotterdam.
Jannik Sinner remains unbeaten this year, extending his winning streak from the 2024 Australian Open, which he won, to the ongoing ABN Amro Open at Rotterdam. He is now 11-0 this year and has reached his 200th career victory. Sinner is the only player born after 2000 to achieve this feat on the ATP Tour.
In a rematch of last year’s semifinal, he beat Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 6-2 and will now face Alex de Minaur for his second title of the season in Sunday’s final. The winner will take home €400, 000 and 500 ATP points.
Regardless of the result, Sinner will replace Daniil Medvedev as the new World No. 3. Medvedev, the defending champion, will lose 500 points at the end of the ABN Amro Open. Sinner is the first Italian to be among the top three players in the world. He currently shares the record for the highest-ranked Italian with Adriano Panatta, who reached World No. 4 in 1976.
Meanwhile, Medvedev also withdrew from the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which starts on Monday (19th February), citing a foot injury. The 2024 Australian Open finalist is scheduled to compete at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships later this month, where he will defend his title.

Sinner’s rise to the top-three also benefits from Carlos Alcaraz’s shock defeat by Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals of the Argentina Open. Jarry handed the Spaniard a 7-6 (2), 6-3 loss, extending his title drought to nine tournaments since winning Wimbledon in July last year. Alcaraz has not reached a final since losing to Novak Djokovic in Cincinnati in August 2023. Jarry will play Argentinian wildcard Facundo Diaz Acosta for the title in Buenos Aires.
Sinner, set to become the new World No. 3, leads de Minaur 6-0 in their head-to-head, with three wins in 2023 alone. The most recent win was in the finals of the 2023 Davis Cup, which helped Italy win their first Davis Cup title in nearly 50 years. Sinner looks on course to win his first title in Rotterdam in three attempts.
