Abu Dhabi Open 2025: All you need to know about prize money and points on offer

Abu Dhabi Open 2025 will run from February 1 to 8.

The Abu Dhabi Open kicks off the Middle East swing in 2025 and precedes the WTA 1000 events in Doha and Dubai. Elena Rybakina is the defending champion in Abu Dhabi, having defeated Daria Kasatkina for the title. The WTA 500 event is one of three played in the region in February. Iga Swiatek holds the Qatar Open trophy, while Jasmine Paolini claimed the Dubai Open.

A possible semi-final showdown with the 2023 title winner, Belinda Bencic, awaits Rybakina. But first, the Kazakh will have to find a way past the much-improved Katie Boulter. Jelena Ostapenko and Ons Jabeur are waiting in the wings to test Rybakina’s mettle in a potential round of eight meetings.

The World No. 5 from Kazakhstan faces an uphill battle after ending the 2024 season on a lacklustre note. At this time last year, Rybakina had won the Brisbane International and was on her way to claiming the title in Abu Dhabi.

Paula Badosa (2) and Daria Kasatkina (3) round off the top three seeds and will keep tennis fans entertained in the draw’s bottom half. Badosa and Kasatkina returned to the winner’s circle in 2024, besides making significant strides in the WTA rankings. Badosa returned to the top ten for the first time since October 2022. Kastakina almost made it and is currently ranked No. 11. Kastakina, who is Russian, was among the top ten as recently as October 2024.
