Alexander Zverev vs Arthur Fils prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Miami Open 2025

Zverev will face Fils in the Round of 16 of the Miami Open 2025.
Alexander Zverev entered the fourth round with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Australia’s Jordan Thompson. The German, a Miami Open 2024 semi-finalist, secured a fourth-round appearance for the fifth time, improving to 3-2 in his head-to-head with Thompson. It was also the Zverev’s 81st win at a Masters 1000 event since 2020.
For a while, it looked like Alexander Zverev would be another seeded casualty of the Miami Open 2025 after Thompson raced to a 3-0 lead in the opening set. The German showed his tenacious side, breaking Thompson’s serve in the seventh and eleventh games of the first set. Zverev held on to his serve and closed the opening set 7-5. The top seed controlled the narrative in the second set to take an early lead at 3-1 before closing it out 6-4 to win in 87 minutes.

Awaiting Zverev in the fourth round is Arthur Phills, who is playing in Miami for the second time. Fils scored a 7-6(11), 5-7, 6-2 over Frances Tiafoe to solidify his presence in the ATP Top 20. The Frenchman rose to a career-high ranking of No. 18 after his quarter-final run at Indian Wells earlier this month.
The Fils-Tiafoe face-off went in Fils’ favour, with the Frenchman firing 21 aces and 45 winners during the three-hour match. What delayed the inevitable victory for Fils were 46 unforced errors and allowing Tiafoe to save 10 breakpoints from the 14 throughout the match.

Preview
Arthur Fils is close to making his second ATP 1000 quarter-finals after the Indian Wells Open earlier this month. His fourth-round appearance in Miami is already his best result after an opening-round exit last season.
The 20-year-old Frenchman will be looking to improve on last season, where he won two ATP 500 titles in Hamburg and Tokyo. Fils unseated defending champion Zverev for his first career win over the German at the Hamburg Open final. Fils defeated compatriot Ugo Humbert to take home the Tokyo Open title two months after Hamburg.

Zverev will hope to convert his last four appearances at Miami last season into a title run and add to his collection of seven Masters titles. Fils will have payback on his mind for last season’s fourth-round loss in the Paris Masters loss at the German’s hands. The duo’s previous meeting in the French capital gave Zverev his third win over Fils.
Fils is up to No. 16 in the ATP Live Rankings, fought off cramping in the final set to overcome Frances Tiafoe in their first-ever head-to-head meeting.

Match Prediction
Alexander Zverev’s decision to play in South America following the Australian Open has not yielded the expected results. The 27-year-old Hamburg native wrapped up February at 4-3. What followed was an opening-round loss at Indian Wells to Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor.

Zverev is turning his season around but is yet to face a quality opponent at Miami. Arthur Fils defeated the German in Hamburg last year for a maiden ATP 500 crown. Repeating the result could be out of reach for Fils after he nearly ran out of steam and battled cramps during his three-hour match against Frances Tiafoe.
Result: Alexander Zverev will win in straight sets.
