Andy Murray consumed over 6,000 calories per day during the 2009 Wimbledon Championships.
Andy Murray retired from professional tennis after Paris Olympics 2024, where he teamed up with countryman Daniel Evans to play doubles. The British duo reached the quarterfinals at Stade Roland Garros before they fell short against America’s Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
Since retiring from professional tennis, he has started playing golf. Only a couple of weeks later, he updated his X (formerly Twitter) bio and cover image. His new bio reads, “I played tennis. I now play golf.”
The three-time Grand Slam champion also participated in the Pro-Am at Wentworth alongside Scottish golfer Bob MacIntyre last week. During the tournament, the British star talked about his post-retirement weight loss. Murray revealed that he hasn’t been active since his retirement.
The two-time Wimbledon champion said, “I haven’t been to the gym for five weeks. I said to my wife, I was like, Look, I’m going to make sure when I stop, I’m going to make sure I stay in good shape.”
Andy Murray added, “And she said: ‘Oh, if you’re just going to go and play golf, I don’t want that. I was like: ‘No, no, I’ll get myself in the gym, make sure I stay in shape’.
Murray stated that he lost around 5kgs since his retirement because he consumes lesser calories. He further said, “But we obviously have like loads of the sport drinks have got lot of calories in them, and I only really drink water and coffee now. So, I don’t know, I think just less calories and probably loss of muscle. I’ve lost about 11, 12 pounds. It’s a lot. I was expecting the opposite to happen. It’s about five kilos, yeah.”
The Briton also keeps sharing updates about his golf career on his social media accounts. Robert MacIntyre also uploaded a picture alongside Murray on his social media account.
