Aryna Sabalenka will return to tennis action at the 2026 Canadian Open.

It has been a season of two very different halves for Aryna Sabalenka. She began 2026 in ominous form, cruising through the Australian Open without dropping a set, only to let a 3-0 deciding-set lead slip against Elena Rybakina, losing 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in Melbourne.

It was her second straight Australian Open final defeat, and by her own admission, the moment felt like “the last straw.” Rather than spiral, she bounced back hard, storming through Indian Wells and Miami to complete the Sunshine Double.

Then things unravelled again. Clay was rough, with a quarterfinal upset in Madrid, a three-set collapse in Rome, and a shocking loss to Diana Shnaider at Roland Garros after leading by a set and a double break. Grass didn’t offer much redemption either, as she bowed out in the Wimbledon fourth round to Naomi Osaka.

Through it all, one uncomfortable fact remains: Sabalenka hasn’t won a single Grand Slam this year. The silver lining is that her best surface is up next.

The hardcourt swing kicks off with the Canadian Open, followed by Cincinnati, before she heads to New York to defend her US Open crown for a third straight year.

Off the court, Aryna’s outfit reveal has become almost as big a talking point as her results. Her US Open kit ditches the pink-orange-black combo she wore in Melbourne, and the striking red-and-black look from Paris in favour of a black mesh design layered over a bright orange top and shorts.

Nike had used a similar perforated fabric on Jannik Sinner‘s Wimbledon jacket earlier this year. Not everyone is sold on it, though, as some fans online have compared the outfit to a fishing net.

Part of the frustration seems to stem from the fact that Sabalenka, despite being World No. 1, still doesn’t have a fully custom-made Nike design.

Hence, it goes without saying that the outfit will get plenty of eyes on it, especially once she steps out at Flushing Meadows chasing a third straight US Open title alongside her high-profile mixed doubles pairing with Novak Djokovic.
