Prediction
Standing in the way of Acosta reaching his first semifinal in Barcelona is Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek was a shadow of his former self, dropping out of the top 10 for the first time since March 2019.
Tsitsipas turned things around in Monte Carlo, defeating three top 10 players en route to winning his third title in the Principality. The Greek is back to his winning ways, defeating Jannik Sinner in the semifinals and Casper Ruud in the finals.
The numbers point towards a dominant match by the 6-foot, 4-inch Greek. Tsitsipas is 6-0 on clay courts this season and has an overall win percentage of 77% on the surface. Acosta is 9-5 on clay courts, with an overall win percentage of 53%.
Tsitsipas is quite at home on clay, with five of his 11 tour-level titles coming on the surface. The 25-year-old will be the overwhelming favourite to lift the Barcelona Open title.
Result: Tsitsipas to win in two sets.
