Vondrousova becomes the only women to win Wimbledon and another grass event in this decade.

After missing almost the entire first half of the 2025 season, Marketa Vondrousova is back to winning title on grass. The Czech outlasted a formidable pool of players, including World No. #1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semis, Australian Open winner Madison Keys in the opening round, World No. #11 Diana Shnaider and former Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur, before prevailing over an inspired Wang Xinyu in the finals.

This victory makes Vondrousova one of the most feared opponents for the upcoming Grand Slam major, as she is set to enter the event unseeded. Frist-time finalist Xinyu had a memorable journey in Berlin, as she began from the qualifying stages, defeating Jabeur, World No. #2 Gauff, eighth seed Badosa and Samsonova in the semi-finals.

The competition will be remebered for the quarter-final clash between top seed Aryna Sabalenka and former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, which saw the Kazakh on the doorstep of yet another win over the World No. #1, but the Belarusian showcased incredible grit and resilience to save four match-points and win six straight tie-break points to emerge victorious.

The WTA Berlin Open has introduced an approximate 15% increase in its prize pool this year. From around €802,000 ($915,000) to €949,000 (Approximately $1,064,500) this year, surpassing the one-million-dollar mark for the first time.
