Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal is set to return to action, as he will face Frenchman Harold Mayot in the first round of the ATP 175 BNP Paribas Primrose in Bordeaux on Tuesday, May 14.
Sumit Nagal played his last match against Holger Rune at the Monte Carlo Masters last month, winning a set against the Dane. Since then, the 26-year-old has been on a break from tennis. He didn’t participate in the Madrid Open and missed the Italian Open.
The Indian has a spot assured in the main draw of the upcoming Roland Garros, and he will be looking forward to getting in shape before the clay court major by playing in Bordeaux. Sumit Nagal will commence his campaign against former junior World No. 1 Harold Mayot.
Interestingly, former World No. 1 Andy Murray is also returning to tour with the Bordeaux Challengers as he earned a wildcard. In addition to that, the likes of Arthur Fils and Stan Wawrinka are also participating in the tournament.
If Nagal records a win against Mayot, he will face either fifth seed Dan Evans or Hugo Grenier. Moreover, in the further rounds, the 26-year-old can lock horns against the former Grand Slam champions. Sumit Nagal has been enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2024, as he has achieved a couple of remarkable feats.
