Jannik Sinner is the defending champion in China Open 2024.

Jannik Sinner marked his attendance for China Open 2024 by sharing his goals for the remainder of the season. He reflected upon his performance so far this year which included two grand slam wins and four ATP tour titles. Sinner mentioned that he is happy with his form and still feels that the 2024 season has a lot to offer.

The world No #1 said,’ I’m just very happy to be in the position where I am right now, the season’s not over, there are some very important tournaments coming up. So hopefully I will be ready, one of my main goals for sure now is the year end finals in Turin. After, there is Davis Cup and so many things to come.’

Sinner also stated that China Open 2024 is a special event for him and there is a lot of scope to improve in the 2024 season. He has already left a major impact since the start of this year and has captured six titles including two grand slam titles.

The Italian will begin his title defence in Beijing against Nicolas Jarry on the Diamond court at the National tennis center. Sinner could face Jan-Lennard Struff in the fourth round and Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals. His first tough test could come in the semi-finals against Andrey Rublev and in the final possibly against Daniil Medvedev.

Sinner had defeated Dimitrov, Carlos Alcaraz and Medvedev on his way to the title in 2023. He only dropped three sets while emerging as the winner in Beijing. Sinner had made his China Open debut last season and marked the first instance where he defeated Medvedev. It ended his six match losing streak against the Russian.

The win in the final against Medvedev in China Open 2023 was followed by four more wins on the tour. The courts in Beijing will once again see Sinner take on his rivals this year as the fans will expect the 23 year old to successfully defend his title. He will play his first match of China Open 2024 on September 26. The ATP tour 500 event will be the second last Asian tournament of the season.
