Mirra Andreeva has a win/loss record of 22/10 this year.
Russiaâs Mirra Andreeva has become only the fifth tennis player since 1975 to defeat three former WTA World No. 1s in a calendar year before turning 18. She reached the feat on Thursday after she defeated Carolina Pliskova of Czechia 6-2, 6-3.
Born on April 29, 2007, Mirra Andreeva has already broken a handful of records this year. She started her year with a fourth round finish at the Australian Open. She also reached the quarter-finals at the 2024 Madrid Open, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka.
However, her breakthrough moment came at Stade Roland Garros, where he defeated Aryna Sabalenka to reach the semi-finals at the French Open. During the quarter-final match at Roland-Garros, Sabalenka looked sick and she also demanded a doctor. However, it was a huge moment for Andreeva.
In addition to that, she also won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the womenâs doubles event alongside Diana Shnaider. They lost in the final against the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini. She won the WTA 250 IaČi Open after defeating Elina Avanesyan in the final.
This year, she has defeated three former World No. 1s, which are Victoria Azarenka, Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova. Since 1975, only five tennis players, including Andreeva, have managed to reach the feat.
Switzerlandâs Martina Hingis completed the milestone in 1996, while two-time doubles Australian Open champion Anna Kournikova did that in 1998. Former American tennis star and 23-time singles Grand Slam champion Serena Williams completed the milestone in 1999.

Meanwhile, Andreevaâs idol Maria Sharapova did that in 2004-05. In the next round, the Russian prodigy will face two-time Grand Slam runner-up and 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist Jasmine Paolini. The two tennis stars have faced each other twice before, winning once each.
Interestingly, both of their meetings took place earlier this year. At the 2024 Madrid Open, Andreeva defeated Paolini in straight sets to secure a place in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Paolini completed the redemption with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over the 17-year-old at the French Open semi-final.
