Jannik Sinner is a match away from clinching his second Masters 1000 title this season.

Jannik Sinner overcame Alexander Zverev in a marathon semi-final of Cincinnati Open 2024 to reach the title clash. By advancing to the finals, Sinner has become the first Italian man to achieve the feat in the open era. It took him three hours and seven minutes to end a four-match losing streak against Zverev.

The 23-year-old has been making history for Italy since the start of the season. He is a win away from securing his second Masters 1000 title of the season. The semi-final win will have boosted his confidence and a title would mean a warning for his rivals ahead of the US Open 2024.

Sinner is looking to win his fifth title of the season and 15th overall. He had won four titles in 2021 and also in 2023. This could be Sinner’s first season where he has won more than four titles. These milestones can be denied by Frances Tiafoe in the final. It will be the pair’s fifth meeting on the tour as the American has only registered a single win so far against Sinner.

How has Jannik Sinner performed at Cincinnati Open 2024 so far?

Jannik Sinner has only played three matches on his way to the final of the Cincinnati Open 2024. He had received a walkover in the fourth round against Jordan Thompson but then had tough encounters against Andrey Rublev and Zverev.

The world No #1 has hit 98 winners in three matches at Cincinnati. He has also served 31 aces on his way to the final. Sinner has been a threat always from the baseline and has continued to do that at the event. The net approach has not been widely used by Sinner but has been successful at his attempts.

In his fourth appearance at the event, the Italian has finally gotten hold of the event. A win in the final against Frances Tiafoe will further push him away from the rest of the pack in ranking points. With only a week to go for the final slam of the year, Sinner will assert his dominance to solidify his position as the top seed.
