Italy, the 2023 champions, will be keen to hold on to the Davis Cup for a second consecutive year.

Close on the heels of the victorious Italian women lifting the Billie Jean King Cup, the Italian squad playing the Davis Cup 2024 Finals would like to ensure a win at the premier men’s team event. Italy lifted the Davis Cup trophy for the first time last season. They would like to make the most of a rare opportunity to ensure a one-two taking the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup in the same season.

The defending champions will bid to become the first nation since Czechia (2012-13) to win back-to-back Davis Cup trophies. They face Netherlands in the final, with Jannik Sinner in the fold after a stellar 2024 season. While Italy, two-time winners, have reached the final a total of nine times, their opponents are playing their first-ever final.

Netherlands have the status of first-time finalists at the Davis Cup after crossing the semi-final hurdle. The Dutch took out Spain and Germany in the quarters and semis, two teams that share nine titles. Spain has six, and Germany owns three in the Davis Cup.

Botic Van De Zandschulp and Tallon Griekspoor stood up and delivered when it mattered most, powering the Dutch into their first-ever finals. Zandschulp and Griekspoor overcame Daniel Altmaier and Jan-Lennard Struff in hard-fought singles matches lasting three sets to whitewash Germany 2-0.
