The 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva is the youngest ever WTA-1000 champion.
Mirra Andreeva scripted history in Dubai, defeating Clara Tauson in straight sets to become the youngest ever to win a WTA-1000 tournament. At just 17 years of age, the Russian has pulled off a remarkable heist. What makes Andreeva’s triumph sweeter, is the players she had to beat to accomplish this feat.
She defeated Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova, five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina, en route to the title. The Russian is yet to lose a tiebreak this year and was near-perfect as she won the first six points before taking the opening set when Tauson sent a return long.
