Elena Rybakina vs Jessica Pegula prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: WTA Finals 2025

Rybakina will make her maiden semi-final appearance.
Elena Rybakina was the last to qualify for Riyadh. The Kazakh clinched the final spot with a title run at Ningbo and later reached the semi-finals in Tokyo, guaranteeing an appearance at the WTA Finals for the third time in a row.
In Riyadh, she has scored impressive wins over Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova to become the first to advance to the semi-finals. The Kazakh defeated alternate Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday to reach the semi-finals for the first time.
The 26-year-old finished the group stage undefeated and leads the Serena Williams Group after her 74-minute victory over Alexandrova. Rybakina bageled Swiatek en route to her round-robin victory over the 2023 champion and became the first Kazakh to reach the semi-finals of the WTA Finals.
Rybakina is making her third appearance at the event and will now face 2023 finalist Jessica Pegula for a chance to make the championship round.
Pegula took on Jasmine Paolini in their Stefanie Group round robin match to decide who would progress to the last four. The American scripted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Paolini, who had already been eliminated from contention in just 63 minutes.
Pegula’s passage to the semi-finals was confirmed after Aryna Sabalenka knocked out defending champion Coco Gauff in straight sets. The 31-year-old Pegula is the event’s oldest semi-finalist since 2017.

Preview
Rybakina heads into the semi-final clash against Pegula on a nine-match winning streak. She is also undefeated in round-robin play. Rybakina must overcome the 1-3 deficit against the American, but so far has been in great form at the WTA Finals.
Their last tour-level clash was at the 2023 WTA Finals, with Pegula victorious 7-5, 6-2 in their group stage encounter. Rybakina recently handed Pegula a 6-4, 6-1 defeat at the Billie Jean King Cup team event in September.
The fifth seed will be seeking her second title round appearance at the WTA Finals when she takes on a resurgent Elena Rybakina in the last four. Pegula was a finalist at the Cancun edition in 2023.
Rybakina, the World No. 6, is not the only player making her semi-final debut. Amanda Anisimova is playing her maiden WTA Finals and has made the last four on debut.
Anisimova won titles in Doha and Beijing, accompanied by back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open in a stellar year.
Anisimova will take on Aryna Sabalenka in the other semi-finals after the Belarusian sent home defending champion Coco Gauff with a straight set loss on Thursday.

Match prediction
After enduring a handful of disappointing results in the 2025 season, Rybakina buckled down for a late-season surge to qualify for the WTA Finals. The 26-year-old’s season is hitting the high note just as it is winding down.
Rybakina brings her arsenal of big serves and powerful strokes to the encounter. Pegula is capable of taming the Kazakh’s power and will test Rybakina with her long, probing rallies.
If the Kazakh carries her from the group stage into the semi-finals, there is little Pegula can do to stop her. Pegula is likely to be the first off the blocks and claim the opening set before Rybakina turns the tide against the American.
Result: Elena Rybakina will win in three sets.
