Bad Homburg Open 2026: Emma Navarro credits THIS Indian restaurant after beating Iga Swiatek
Emma Navarro just pulled off one of the results of the grass-court season and made sure her beloved Indian restaurant in Bad Homburg shared the limelight.
The World No. 24 American knocked off top-seeded Iga Swiatek 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 on Wednesday at the Bad Homburg Open, fighting back from a lopsided second set to close out the match emphatically, hitting 14 winners against just three unforced errors in the decider.
Swiatek, who will defend her Wimbledon title in a few days’ time, was also the finalist in Bad Homburg last year. Navarro’s performance showcased real composure and class, but it was what Navarro said afterwards that truly captured the internet’s heart.
When asked in her post-match interview whether she had a favourite spot in Bad Homburg that she returns to each year, Navarro did not hesitate for a single second:
“Yes, we always go to Singh’s Indian Restaurant,” she said with a grin. “It’s right down the street. Singh, if you can hear us — shout out. Your food is great. Thanks for hooking us up.”
This quickly captured the attention of the Indian social media, and would certainly boost Singh’s restaurant sales in the coming days!
The victory gives Navarro consecutive wins over Swiatek and levels their head-to-head record at 2-2, with the American winning each of their past two meetings in three sets. Unfortunately for Navarro, she suffered a straight-sets loss to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the quarter-final round, bringing her campaign to an end in Bad Homburg.
For a place in the final, Ruse will take on the winner of the match between Karolina Muchova and Clara Tauson. Meanwhile, sixth seed Naomi Osaka is all set to play her most important grass-court match, taking on Wang Xinyu in the semi-finals.
The championship match of the 2026 Bad Homburg Open will be held on June 27.
