Casper Ruud has won two titles, the Barcelona Open and the Geneva Open, in 2024.
The social media account of the French Open recently uploaded a video of Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud, who can be seen juggling a football. Roland-Garros also tagged Ruud’s countryman, Erling Haaland, in the post.
Casper Ruud recently won the ATP 250 Geneva Open by defeating Tomas Machac 7-5, 6-3 in the final. Seeded 7th, the two-time Roland-Garros runner-up will start his Grand Slam campaign in Paris against Felipe Alves.
Felipe Alves is currently ranked 137th in the ATP rankings and he has played only two matches in 2024. Meanwhile, before he faced the Brazilian tennis player, Casper Ruud was seen warming up with a football. The X (formerly Twitter) account of Roland-Garros uploaded a short video clip of the Norwegian tennis star playing with a football.
In the caption, they tagged Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, who recently won the Golden Boot for the 2023–24 Premier League season and asked for his thoughts on Ruud’s football skills.
Haaland played an important role in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City winning the Premier League title for the fourth time in a row over the likes of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. In the 2023–24 season, Haaland made 45 appearances for City, bagging 38 goals and six assists across all competitions.
Here is the video:
Casper Ruud has reached the final of the French Open on two occasions (2022 & 2023). In 2023, he lost against Rafael Nadal in straight sets, while in the last edition, he suffered a disappointing loss against 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic.
Nevertheless, the Norwegian tennis star won the ATP 500 Barcelona Open and reached the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this year. Thus, Casper Ruud can emerge as a top contender for the clay court major if he stays consistent with his game. He has a win-loss record of 35-9 this season.
